In May 2010, my husband and I purchased a very special mid-century home. Before we even moved in I set to furnishing the house in period appropriate vintage pieces found at auctions, tag sales, online and occasionally, even from the trash. My goal was to create a home that was stunning, yet inviting and warm, and importantly, didn’t take itself too seriously. I wanted our friends and family to feel “at home” when they come to visit. A modern home doesn’t have to be cold or sterile.
What I realized very quickly was not only did I love finding unique items, but that I was good at it! My home is now looking great, so at the request of others, I’ve decided to help people in their pursuit of mid century gems.
I specialize in finding mid century furnishings and decor for clients desiring anything from a special stand-out piece to total mid-century make over. I also provide design consultations, editing and organizing of existing decor and staging for events or sale. In addition, I can assist in the de-accession of unwanted furniture, art and accessories. If you’d prefer new reproductions of mid-century pieces, or new items inspired by the mid-century, I can help with that too.
I also have a limited amount of inventory from the 1950′s, 60′s and 70′s for sale on Etsy. About every 6-8 weeks, you will see At Home Modern on Fab.com as well.
When I’m not out there hunting for treasure, I teach Art History and Museum Studies at a local college in downtown Philadelphia. I’ve also worked as an Assistant Gallery Director and Career Development Program Director for a non-profit organization that supports emerging visual artists.
Feel free to contact me if you have a special item you would like me to look out for, a project you want me to know about or if you’d like me to visit your home for a free consultation.
Best,
Bobbie
