Here’s what clients are saying about At Home Modern:

Nancy

Bobbie has been actively purchasing mid century furnishings for my home since October 2011.  In this short amount of time, she has acquired a desk, vanity, dresser, credenza, four chairs, a lamp and two side tables for me, and is still actively searching for other items for my home.  She has also assisted me in developing a vision for certain areas of my home, consulting with me on rug selections, furniture placement and general design solutions.

Bobbie is easy going, professional, resourceful and a joy to work with.  The items she finds are unique and well crafted – she has an excellent eye and a true talent for obtaining items found nowhere else!  Bobbie also has a keen sense of budget and knowledge about the worth of the items she finds. She is able to advise about buying essential pieces first, keeping overall objectives for a space in mind as she helps to select furniture and decorative items.

I am writing to provide a recommendation for Bobbie, who has advised me and purchased for me some of the most treasured objects in my home, whose opinions and advice I am pleased to recommend and whom I believe is doing a real service in helping to preserve some of the fine objects created by American designers working in the middle of this century.

I first met Bobbie at a modern homes tour in Philadelphia, and although I had previously been interested in mid century modern architecture, I hadn’t really become interested in the designers of that era until that tour.  The house tour and Bobbie’s house in particular created in me an immediate interest in the furnishings and designers of that period.  Bobbie and I spoke briefly and afterward I contacted her in order to get her help in selecting some pieces for my house.  Since that time, Bobbie has selected and purchased for me a beautiful Adrian Pearsall coffee table and an amazing hanging lamp, among other pieces.

I graduated with a degree in fine art as a painter and worked as a painter for many years so I do not readily take counsel in any aspect of the arts but I have found Bobbie to be sensitive artistically to personal preferences and in general very easy to work with in acquiring and choosing objects.  Her sense of arrangement and her three dimensional skills are obvious to anyone who has seen her home.  I think her background as an art historian has been most helpful in this venture.

I had the great fortune to meet Bobbie through a mutual friend.  Although I love my home, I have never had the time, expertise, or vision to get to the point where I was completely happy with my interior furnishings.  After seeing Bobbie’s amazing mid-century home and learning about her business, I knew I had found the person to get me on the right track.  My first challenge to Bobbie was my living room.  She was able to find at auction a perfect pair of mid-century chairs that were unique, exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, and fit within my budget.  But unlike a retail shop, she was also able to visit my home, key into my personal sense of style, and provide suggestions related to paint colors, textiles and art – in addition to furniture.  She has a real knack for taking what you like in furnishings and interior finishes and explaining how to they will best fit in YOUR space.  And the really great thing?  She will actually go out and hunt for the things that complete your home!

In addition to her decorating and design skills, Bobbie is a pleasure to work with.  She’s utterly professional, communicative, and clearly has an impeccable eye for the beautiful and the unique without losing sight of the client’s goals.  For lovers of mid-century modern style, I can recommend no one better.
