Service Description

NOTE: I've decided to dedicate this retreat to those affected by cancer. Use coupon code MAINE to get $250 off the price of tuition. ******************************************************************************************************************* Maine has been the inspiration of artists for the past two centuries! Let's continue the tradition. In this ALL LEVELS 3-day workshop, we will begin our retreat with a drive down the St. George Peninsula in order to explore various Maine landscapes. Once we are back in the studio, students will sketch their ideas, learn/review the basics of tapestry weaving and special techniques for creating a large landscape weaving. We will also explore experimental techniques and explore ways to find your unique voice as a weaver! If you don't want to weave a landscape, no biggie! Do what your heart tells you! Instruction runs each day from 9:30 to 1:30 minimum. Students are welcome to stay in the studio as long as they wish for the duration of the three days. I am happy to help arrange afternoon outings, dinners at local establishments, etc. for those who desire them. Soft drinks and snacks will be provided. This workshop includes a 36-inch tapestry loom, tools, warp string and up to 5lbs of fiber. Feel free to bring some of your own favorite yarns if you wish. LODGING: I can offer students lodging in our cottage which is located next door to the studio. First come, first serve, so email or call to inquire. The king bedroom with private bath is $200 per night. The queen bedroom with shared bath is $150 per night. The twin bedroom has two twin beds with shared bath and is $75 per night, per bed (ideal for two pals traveling together, or I can match you with a roommate). LOGISTICS: The studio is in Thomaston Maine. Much to see, do and eat here! If you are flying in from out of state, most folks fly to Portland and drive up (1.5 hours). A car service from Portland to Thomaston runs $125 to $150. Or, you can fly to Boston and take a commuter flight from Boston to Knox County Airport via Cape Air. Knox Country airport is a 15 minute drive from the studio.
