I'm a lucky gal with cool pals! This week, I was invited to a Polynesian themed evening at the Louis Kahn Esherick House near Philadelphia. You see, a bunch of us modern homeowners (or former in my case) started up this group about a year ago. Every three months we get together for some fun. This time, it was Dan and Paul's turn.
Of course, the house is stunning (I even spotted several items that came from AHM's inventory), but what probably struck me the most was the bath tub. I love a nice hot bath and I love to read books - just like the original owner of this home. Look how Kahn addressed both loves:
As you can see, he built a hidden sitting area! When the tub is not in use, you can pull out the drawer and have a cozy little space to read your favorite book by the fireplace. How great is that? And, how perfect would this be for a small home? Did you notice the sideways switchplate, too? They're all over the home.
Oh, and here's me in that bathroom in my moo-moo wondering, "why aren't all homes this clever?!?"
