GO BIG! 3-Day Modern Tapestry Retreat

Service Description

In this ALL LEVELS 3-day workshop, students will learn/review the basics of tapestry weaving and special techniques for creating a really BIG woven wall hanging. We will also explore experimental techniques and explore ways to find your unique voice as a weaver! We will begin day one by setting up our looms in the afternoon. Instruction/oversight on days 2 and 3 run from 9AM to early afternoon. Students are welcome to stay in the studio as long as they wish for the duration of the three days to work on their projects. Class size is limited to 8 students. Soft drinks and snacks will be provided. This workshop includes a 36-inch tapestry loom, tools, warp string and up to 5lbs of fiber. Feel free to bring some of your own favorite yarns if you wish. LODGING & CANCELLATION POLICY: Contact me and I can reccomend some great lodging options! Because this retreat only runs if we have a minimum of 5 students, it is best to make refundable lodging reservations in case the retreat doesn't run. If I cancel, I will work with you on selecting a new date, if we can't find one, I will refund you. If you cancel, you will recieve a credit to be used for equipement or future retreats/workshops. LOGISTICS: The studio is in Thomaston Maine. Much to see, do and eat here! If you are flying in from out of state, most folks fly to Portland and drive up (1.5 hours). A car service from Portland to Thomaston runs $125 to $150. Or, you can fly to Boston and take a commuter flight from Boston to Knox County Airport via Cape Air. Knox Country airport is a 15 minute drive from the studio.
